Marvelous Monday!!

For all you moms out there that run errands and shop with your babies all day and your spouses dont understand how much work that is, you will appreciate reading this!!

So yesterday Brian had an "office" day. Which was also another day we could all be together, because this past weekend took a lot out of us! So we did errands.... almost all day!! We had to go to target, home depot, natures food, and a few other places. Brian got to see how taking leila out for each stop no matter how minor it was, takes extra time and energy! It adds about 10 minutes to each trip because she likes to sit in the carts now, which means putting her shop and play in the cart and getting her all strapped in.  After a grueling 4-5 hours of running around, he said he didnt realize how much (time and energy) goes into even a simple errand!! VICTORY!! I may not bring home a pay check right now, but I keep this house stocked and clean and organized and its great to know he appreciates my hard work!! So Yeah!

I also got to cash in my christmas present and get a massage! It was great! I laughed when the masseuse told me i hold my stress in my shoulders. I said its also what i use to hold my 18 pound butter ball!! But it felt great!

Today we went to Mom's group and the market! I am going to be picking up a new blender (sounds very 1950's homemaker) to start making her food! So excited about that! we got some great produce and cant wait to introduce some new healthy foods!

Leila, who just started crawling.. what like two weeks ago... now is trying everything she can to stand up and then walk! Stay little i say! But she is a hoot! Hope everyones week is getting off to a great start!

Well I hope you enjoyed seeing how we have completely transformed this house in "just" a year.... We still have a lot to do. But i love what we have done and am excited to call it home!

Spring Cleaning has a new meaning...

This weekend has been jam packed with house improvements. Some little things and other big things needed to be done. First off I need to thank all the workers who dedicated their saturdays to helping us. THANK YOU MOM, DAD, DEVYN, A.P., AND OF COURSE BRIAN!! We were and ARE a great team.

We cleared out the back yard which had piled up with wood, tile, siding, and other materials that were discarded during the remodel. Well now its all gone. There is still a lot of gardening and planting to do, which i am totally excited about. I want to put up a tiki bar with a grill in one part of the back yard. Also have a garden so Leila and I can grow tomatoes, carrots, green beans, lettuce, and other fun stuff! We can go green! Part of me, well a lot of me, hopes she becomes a science lover like me! Eventually a tree house too. Most of these projects will have to be done when we get back from Minnesota in September because no one will be here to keep up with the garden/plants, but doesnt mean i cant plan! (btw we leave May 18th for MN... yeah and tear at the same time!)

The back screened-in room is finally cleared out and ready to be organized and set up for Baby fun. We have, thanks to my mom, a baby kitchen set. I want to set it up back there. First i need to get some kind of indoor/outdoor carpet and definitely put some padding down underneath to protect her from her falls. This area is going to have a lot of purposes...

Inside, we are putting up our breakfast bar lighting. I finally picked one out that i like, well love! This is what the two pendant lights look like. Cabinet hardware, doorbell, and address numbers are all up to! Its exciting to cross off things off the house to do list. Still have a few more "essentials" as brian would say!

Also i am going to look into getting a bike attachment for Leila so we can go on family rides. I remember riding in the kind that attached to the bike behind the seat, but i dont see any of those anymore. Mostly, or the most popular is the tow behind. Any suggestions would be great. I have heard pro's and con's for both. Paging all moms... What kind do you/kids like?

Well that is the weekend in a snapshot, but dont worry before and after pics will be posted! Today is the cleaning up after yesterdays work, as in the inside is now getting a good wipe down! Gotta love spring! Hope y'all had a great weekend too...

Apple doesnt fall far from the trees...

So i was looking through baby pictures of brian and I and it is crazy how much she looks like both of us. It helps that we are both blonde haired and blue eyed! But i cant decide who she looks more like. Let me know what you think...

Pretty good looking family is what i think!! :)

Life's A Beach...

Turns out Leila is a beach girl like her momma. We have been a couple times the last two weeks and she has had a blast. The mixture of new textures (sand) and noises (sea gulls) keeps her very entertained! We play in the water too but it needs to warm up a little more before we start swim lessons! :) So excited!

Here are a few Pictures from our latest Beach Day

Speaking of water... Bath time has become so much more fun! Now that she can sit, well has been for over a month now, she can play with her ducks! I want to get some more bath toys or crayons, something thats educational and fun! She would spend all day in her bath if she could!

Oh and this week we also went to the Gulfport Market and bought some organic fruits and veggies. I am going to start to make some baby food or atleast attempt at it! Brian likes my cooking, so hopefully she will too! She sure does like fruit tho... Dont you think?

I have been reading parenting magazines and they all talk about starting the habits early for healthy eating and lifestyles. So i have decided we are going to be outdoors playing for atleast 2 hours a day. It doesnt like like a lot, but sometimes its harder than you think. So we have been going to the park, beach, and even just hanging out in the front yard. This week has been packed full of fun days out... now that she is getting better we will be a lot more active!

I love the stage she is in right now. We read, sing, laugh, and the kind of belly laugh that melts your heart, and crawl around the house. I truly am blessed with the best baby!

sneezes and coughs...

So Leila has come down with a little cold. The first couple of nights were brutal for brian and I. Lets just say after 2 hours of screaming, we threw out the no co-sleeping rule. She slept with us for like 3 nights. Sleep being a relative term. The first couple of nights she was up every 20-30 minutes which was very hard for us. Two nights ago she slept for two four hour stretches and then last night she slept for 8 and a half hours. HEAVEN! Brian and I didnt know what to do. We thought we were dreaming. She has been a faucet the last couple of days and all my clothes are covered with snot, which i thought i would be grossed out about, but i have realized its just part of the job. I cant miss cuddling with her just because of a little snot! lol.

Other than this little set back, life is going great! She has been and is on the verge of crawling. She will scoot all around the floor, but is a little shy about putting one arm out and following it with her knee. She is a very happy baby, smiling and giggling a lot. She is very talkative. I have a feeling that when she starts actually talking there will be no stopping her.

Hopefully this new sleeping pattern becomes a habit and her little cough goes away. Hope everyone has a Happy St. Patricks Day!!
